The Most Amazing Wedding Photos Ever - 50 Years in the Making

You know today's couple already.

The biggest in celebrity couples for decades and they haven't aged a bit. Ha! I'm talking about the effervescent Barbie and her loyal Ken. They've finally tied the knot and their beautiful day was captured thanks to photographer Beatrice de Guigne. She not only got shots of the ceremony but all the preparation and celebration afterward.

I'm cracking up at the "realness" of the poses caught such as the photo frame? Or the lean against the fence. So hilarious and awesome. See the photos of their intimate (only four guests) ado below. 

How amazing was that!? Talk about changing our perception of how Barbie and Ken have all grown up and gone sophisticated on us. Cheers and congratulations to the happy couple! I have a feeling that this one's going to last ;) 

 

Highs and Lows: The Most Extravagant Wedding Favors Out There, Celeb-style

So far this week I've given you some of the highest and lowest priced engagement rings out there. Yesterday I showed you a crazy, great deal on a favor that would make anyone go "aaaw".

Today I've thrown all caution to the wind and pulled together items from some of the most outrageous and frivolous goodie bags out there, including what I deem, a pretty presumptuous item from Kim Kardashian's recent (and soon to be over) marriage. 

1. KIM KARDASHIAN LOVE COLLECTION, LIMITED Really? Who gives something as personal as a scent for a wedding favor??  | 2. TIFFANY STERLING CLOCK, $375 When Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban wed in 2006, they treated each of their guests to Tiffany clocks like this one, each engraved "A moment in time." | 3. PRIME OSETRA CAVIAR, $330+ Sometimes it's what the guests are treated to while at the ado. Many have been known to serve caviar and champagne and cost can't be a concern when it comes to this delicacy at over $150 per ounce. | 4. JUST MARRIED FLIP FLOPS, $9.95 Imagine you get these awesome "Just married" flip flops. Kinda cute, right? Now imagine they're bedazzled with "Kim loves Kris" on them. Not so great if they file for divorce three months later. Huh. | 5. VINTAGE HANDKERCHIEFS This was actually really sweet! When Jenna Dewan married Channing Tatum, her mom scavenged for vintage hankies to gift for the guests as they entered. I had to include this cause it was kind of a priceless idea :) You can find affordable hankies here. | 6. CUSTOM COOKIES BY THE FLOUR POT Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz had custom cookies made by The Flour Pot for their Alice in Wonderland nuptials. Consider a whimsical themed cookie for your day like the Robert Indiana "LOVE" cookie above. 

Real Wedding: Rachel and Mike

SAWYER, MICHIGAN OCTOBER 2011

Today's wedding is incredibly special to me. Not only are the newlyweds a beautiful couple, Rachel and Mike are dear friends of mine. Their reception took place under a huge tent on a sprawling vineyard under a sky full of stars in western Michigan. It couldn't have been a more picturesque setting.

OKNW: Rachel, thanks for taking the time to chat! Your day was just amazing. What was your major inspiration for the day? Rachel: Our families.  I wanted the wedding to feel like equal part my family, Mike's family, and us as a couple. 

OKNW: What did you fret about the most and then realized mattered the least? Rachel: Control!  I wanted to control every last detail.  Leading up to the wedding I was planning on being at the set up and overseeing everything.  Because there was a wind storm the day before, the venue was actually taking the tent down when I was scheduled to be setting up.  

The morning of my wedding, while getting hair and make-up done, my wonderful father and father-in-law set everything up.  Though it wasn't exactly what I had planned, it was better. I realized just relaxing and enjoying the day isn't really possible if you're trying to do it all yourself.  

OKNW: What was the best part of the day? (besides the obvious) Rachel: Aside from marrying the love of my life, the best part of the wedding was seeing our two very different families come together and celebrate.  The best man's speech was another highlight.  

OKNW: Any general advice for brides-to-be? Rachel: Don't try to do it all yourself.  You can't, it's not possible. People want to help you, so let them.

All the details of the day seemed spot on to me -- the handsome couple couldn't have looked happier. Rachel was stunning in a dress from Jenny Yoo and her romantically soft curls and make-up were perfection.  

From the hand crafted jars of jam to lovely floral and DIY photo wall, it was a cozy and intimate affair that I'll never forget. Congratulations to the incredible couple. Here's to a lifetime of happiness, health and laughter.  xo

Vineyard Wedding Details: Pink and White

Over the weekend I was attended the wedding of a very good friend of mine. Not only did it take place in a vineyard in western Michigan, it was also on a beautifully crisp evening where you could see the moon and stars hovering over the tent. The tables were lit with soft candlelight and we were surrounded by harvested grapevines. It was a phenomenal time. Here are just a few of the highlights. There will be more when I get the photos of the bride from the photographer!

Real Wedding Palette: Pink

ROXY + JOSUE - HOUSTON, TEXAS - 2010

When I think of the color pink, I think of cotton candy, pink lemonade and my canopy bed from growing up. For me, it's a happy color and today's bride and groom saw it no differently. Roxy and Josue are an insanely handsome couple and you could just feel the warmth of their day through their expressions. 

OKNW: Your wedding colors are beautiful! How did you come up with the vibrant palette for your floral and dresses? Roxy: I wanted a color that looked fresh and vibrant at the same time. My favorite flowers are oriental lilies and they just happen to match perfectly!

OKNW: Tell us about your dress and accessories. You looked gorgeous on your wedding day, Roxy! Roxy: Thank you, I knew from day one I wanted a mermaid style dress and looking through several magazines I came across the Mori Lee collection. I knew in that moment that was the dress for me. I don't wear jewerly and because the dress was so beautiful and had a lot of detail, I tried to keep it simple with some pearl earring.  I bedazzeled my jade bracelet with pearls to match.

OKNW: What did you fret about the most and then realized mattered the least while you were planning? Roxy: I worried a lot about the florals just because I thought they would die if I ordered to early or if I ordered them to late but in the end I let the florist know when I needed them and it turned out great.

OKNW: What was the best or most memorable part of your day?  Roxy: The most memorable moment was when I said "I do." It felt perfect and all the hard work paid off.

OKNW: Any general tips for brides-to-be out there? Roxy: I would say keep it simple. Make sure you know what you want and stick to it. When you're going to choose a venue make sure they offer everything. We chose Lindsay Lakes because they had lots of options and they customized our package which helped a lot.Always keep in mind that this is your day and no matter what it will be the best day of your life.
